Looking at the future of the Calgary Flames

The Flames have continued their dominant performance well into February in the hope of entering the post-season. Calgary wasn’t able to crack the top 8 in the Western Conference the previous year. If they manage to get in to the playoffs, you could place most of the credit in the hands of interim General Manager Jay Feaster, who has taken control of the team ever since Darryl Sutter stepped down from his position. The flames are determined to make it in, headed by a core consisting of Jarome Iginla and company.

Future in Phoenix?

As of now, the future of hockey in Phoenix looks bleak. If the team moves, Winnipeg is being talked about as a possible location, as are Quebec City, Kansas City, and others. What do you think will happen to the franchise?

Senators Struggling

What’s happened with the Ottawa Senators recently?

An injury to their leading offensive threat, Jason Spezza, has dampened playoff hopes. Ottawa will have to rely on their off-season signings such as Kovalev and Gonchar to help them make the playoffs, or at least come close.

Calgary struggling under Sutters

The Calgary Flames are quickly turning themselves into a laughingstock thanks to the Sutter tandem running the organization. Darryl is GM, while Brent is coach, and together they are running the team into the ground. Look for one of them to be fired by the trade deadline this February.

Sidney Crosby has been injured in this Winter Classic after a blindside hit to the head late in the second period. The concussion proves a costly one to the Penguins, who are now without their leading scorer.

Christmas Break: Top Teams

At the Christmas break, there are a pack of teams that have seperated themselves from the rest.

The Penguins have been stellar and look to continue their streak into the new year. The Flyers have been on a roll as of late and have been playing their best hockey since May. Detroit has been great even with their multitude of injuries to star players. And the Vancouver Canucks round out the pack with strong wins since losing to the Blackhawks in late November.
